Position Description

The County Attorney's Office is a part-time position that is responsible for enforcement of laws and providing legal advice and defense to the county officials. No one is eligible for this office who has not passed the state bar examination. The position is elected to 4-year terms.

Duties

Some of the duties of the County Attorney are:
  • Collect money due on forfeited bonds
  • Convene the grand jury
  • Defend the county in all action brought against it
  • Legal advisor for the Board of Supervisors and other county officials in official business
  • Prosecute all crimes committed in the county
